David’s Creed

DAVID’S CREED

I don’t boast about preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, for it is God who called me to do it. It would be terrible for me if I disobeyed.
If I had decided on my own to be a preacher, I could expect to be paid. But I don’t ask for payment because God has given me this sacred trust.
What then is my pay? It is the opportunity to preach the Good News at no charge. That’s why I never ask payment for preaching.
I could ask to be paid but I have chosen not to, to win many to Christ.
When I am with someone of another faith, I respect their customs and traditions, to bring them to Christ. When I am with those who follow religious laws, I abide by their law, even though I am not subject to it.
I do this so I can bring to Christ those who are under that law.
When I am with those who do not know God, I’m not a stickler for the law, but I stress God’s grace and mercy, so I can win them to Christ.
But I don’t ignore God’s law; I obey the law of Christ. The law of love!
When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. I try to find common ground with everyone, doing all I know to make a difference and save some.
I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.
